My Interview with Professional Dancer Zoe Miles
You only have to ask any member of my family how they remember me as a child and I guarantee the words ‘put on a show’ would come out. I wanted to be right there, centre stage, singing and dancing, creating a whole load of noise.
Singing and dancing is what I wanted to do when I grew up. However, the Pilates studio floor and headset will have to do for now.
This nostalgia was rekindled in full force a few weeks ago at ELEVEN HQ during our heartfelt interview with the incredible Zoe Miles 💃 🎙️
I first met Zoe when she was instructing at a local female gym and was instantly drawn to her warm and nurturing energy. She just had such great confidence in who she was and was so willing to help others along the way. I knew I wanted to get to know her better and once I uncovered her story, I felt so empowered.
Zoe Miles is a professional dancer who moved to the UK 10 years ago to pursue her dreams of dancing on stage. She has since completed multiple cruise ships around the world and performed on the infamous Moulin Rouge stage in one of my favourite cities, Paris.
This was special for me as I always grew up wanting to dance and dreamt of being on the ‘big’ stage, however, life took a different direction. Thus, it was so incredible to unpack Zoe’s journey throughout the dance industry. It was eye-opening to hear the realities of the ruthless dance industry audition process, but also the incredible rewards at the end.
Dance teams and production companies are a true display of a team lifting each other up, creating fantastic shows and portraying power. It is also a portrayal of self-determination and resilience to push through rejections, difficulties, and hardships.
Zoe is also a true inspiration to lots of young girls, like myself back in the day, who wish they had someone like her to look up to and know that there is strength in using the people around you to better yourself.
Life is not a competition, we must help each other to get to the places that we want to be.
If you are at all interested in building a strong mindset, learning not to be intimidated by others, and challenging yourself to give things a go… then please do go have a listen to Zoe’s story and let us know what you think, because we truly are.
