The Berry Family

Gemma is the founder of the non-profit organisation Rory’s Warriors and the mother of 10-year-old Rory Berry, who was diagnosed with Paediatric Brain Cancer at the age of 4.

ELEVEN had the privilege of attending the 4th Annual Sliver of Silver event, packed with an afternoon of inspirational guest speakers, delicious food, games, raffles, and a silent auction in the spirit of raising funds to fight Paediatric Brain Cancer.

All donations are passed directly to the Robert Connor Dawes (RCD) Foundation, who are leading the way in research, care, and development to fund the science behind ending the number one disease killer of young people.

It was uniquely heart warming and deeply moving to see so many from not only the local Geelong community but also greater Victoria, show their support and sparkle in silver.

We loved seeing Rory whiz around, beaming with so much light and infectious radiance, whilst once again, in awe of Gemma’s dedication and passion for all that she does.

From the 2024 Australian Olympic Rower – Jean Mitchell – to a father of a daughter suffering from Neurofibromatosis, and the powerfully informative call to action from the executive director of The Brain Cancer Centre Sam McGuane – it was an honour to hear so many brave, vulnerable, and strong speakers share their experiences with brain cancer.

Gemma is one hell of a superwoman, leading change in more ways than one!
